Yes. Your detergent works to “lift” stains off of laundry items where they swirl around in the wash water. In some cases, that stain can be broken up and re-deposited back onto other wash items.

For example, let’s say your son spills some ketchup on a shirt. Your detergent lifts the ketchup stain where it’s free to float around in the wash. Tiny bits of ketchup can be re-deposited back onto multiple items in the wash.
