Odor Control in Teen Clothes
20 Mule Team® Borax helps eliminate odor in clothing worn by teens.
What causes body odor in teens?
With the onset of puberty, teens experience many different changes, including increased hormones and changes in their sweat glands.
Humans have two types of sweat glands:
• Eccrine glands: These release a salty liquid good for cooling the body. These glands are
located all over your body.
• Apocrine glands: These emit a milky substance that regulates perspiration, and are found
mostly under arms and around genitals.
When teens enter puberty, the apocrine glands become more active. In addition, bacteria loves apocrine sweat—feeding and growing on it—multiplying and producing waste in the form of a gas (odor).
Using 20 Mule Team® Borax to fight teen body odor in clothing
It’s the combination of bacteria and perspiration from the apocrine glands that produces strong odors in teen laundry. Bacteria and enzymes feed on the salt and sweat produced by teen sweat glands, which in turn produces gas (odor) as a waste product.
20 Mule Team® Borax helps inhibit certain enzymes from producing odor, therefore helping to control odors in smelly clothes.
